FUNDING EMERGING AND SEED LEVEL HEDGE FUNDS

We will be hosting a panel on hedge fund fund-raising alternatives for seed and emerging manager level funds April 28th at Lowenstein Sandler. This is one of the few open events we have during the year. Past sessions have been highly successful with more than 1000 alternative investment professionals attending our events last year alone. The reception starts at 6 p.m., presentations begin at 6:30 p.m. with networking to follow.

PROGRAM TOPIC:

Hedge Fund Seeding and Emerging Fund Marketplace

This event will review the market for funding at the Seed and Emerging fund level. We'll look at the environment for seed and emerging level funds, what are the questions seeders and other investors are asking, how do they determine who they look at?

We have assembled a panel of speakers from multiple areas of funding covering (a) fund-raising, (b) fund of funds viewpoint, and (c) HNW and family office perspecitve and the key concerns as they review funds for investment.

Craig Cognetti - Grail Capital Grail is an advisory and investment firm focused on financial services. Through its Chalice Fund, Grail invests in financial services companies with a particular focus on asset management and related industries. Grail has made investments in several early-stage managers, including Creighton Capital Management, Hillcrest Asset Management and Lumen Advisors. Grail takes an active role in its portfolio companies, advising them on strategy, operations, human resources and fundraising.

Mr. Cognetti focuses on M&A execution and principal investing in the New York office of Grail. He is involved in Grail’s investment in Creighton Capital Management and Hillcrest Asset Management. Prior to joining Grail in 2006, Craig was with Chelsey Capital, a New York City-based alternative investment firm. Prior to Chelsey, Craig was with Mellon Ventures, the $1.4 billion private equity division of Mellon Financial. Craig earned his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his BS in Business Administration from Georgetown University. In addition, he completed an International Finance and Management program at Oxford University, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Marie DeFalco, Esq., Member, Lowenstein Sandler Capital Markets group Marie T. DeFalco represents investment management clients throughout the United States and internationally. She has special expertise in structuring business transactions to maximize the achievement of clients' goals, from both a business and tax perspective, particularly transactions involving limited liability companies and partnerships. Ms. DeFalco assists clients with the formation and operation of hedge funds and private equity funds, in the organization of joint ventures, and in the negotiation of shareholder and limited liability company agreements. She is a leader in the firm's Investment Management Practice Group. Ms. DeFalco holds an A.B. in Economics from Cornell University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. She is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Robert Picard, Managing Director Boxtree Capital Prior to launching Boxtree Capital in 2008, Mr. Picard was Chief Investment Officer at Optima Fund Management overseeing 6.5 Billion of hedge fund investments. Prior to joining Optima, Mr. Picard was a Managing Director at The Carlyle Group. At Carlyle, Mr. Picard built and managed the process and portfolio of an innovative hedge fund business that provided an institutional platform for Institutions investing in alternative investments. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Picard was Managing Director at RBC Capital Risk Advisors, working with the Global Equity Derivatives Group of Royal Bank of Canada. The Group actively managed more than US $10 billion of Royal Bank's proprietary assets through arbitrage trading, hedge fund investments and structured private equity investments. Previously Mr. Picard was European Manager, Structured Equity Products for RBC Dominion Securities Inc. From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Picard worked as European Product Manager, Global Equity Derivatives for Kidder, Peabody in Europe and earlier worked for Bank Nomura (Suisse) S.A. trading and selling multicurrency, Japanese and South-East Asian convertible and warrant products. Mr.Picard graduated from College de Geneve and attended the University of Geneva School of Law. Mr. Picard speaks English, French and German. Mr. Picard was recently Chairman of the 2007 GAIM Fund of Funds conference in New York.,

Alexis Graham, Capital Introduction, Acceleration Capital Group, LLC an affiliate of Saratoga Prime, LLC Mr. Graham specializes in raising seed and acceleration capital for early stage hedge fund managers. Mr. Graham has over 14 years of experience working in the hedge fund industry most recently as head of the capital raising program at VanthedgePoint Securities. Prior to starting ACG and joining Saratoga Prime, Mr. Graham’s experience includes helping build the hedge fund information company, HedgeWorld.com where he served as Managing Director of Sales, and developing their hedge fund capital raising practice. He also held positions at Optima Fund Management, a New York-based fund of hedge funds, and Gruss & Co as a merger arbitrage analyst. Mr. Graham graduated from Hamilton College with a Bachelor of Arts, and earned his MBA from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
